Franklin's Valentines is the second story in the fifth episode in the second season of Franklin.
Synopsis[]
During the classroom Valentine's Day party, Franklin makes the distressing discovery that his handmade cards were lost en-route to school. Franklin is moved by how understanding his classmates are and decides he'll celebrate their friendships in a special way.
Plot[]
The night before Valentine's Day, Franklin and Snail are at the former's house making homemade Valentine's Day cards. With help from Snail, Franklin finds the card he made for Beaver somehow ended up on his shell. Both boys are looking forward to handing them out the next day, and Snail is so proud of how he made his valentines that he is keeping one to himself.
The next morning, Mrs. Turtle has baked and decorated 21 heart-shaped cookies, but has broken one trying to lift it up from the cookie sheet. She asks if she should put it in anyway, but Mr. Turtle says there is one thing he can't stand to see: a broken heart on Valentine's Day, so he eats it instead. He asks her if there are any more, but she says no; the rest are for Franklin's class Valentine's Day party. Franklin, ready for the Valentine's Day party, arrives with cards and gives one to both of his parents to share. That card has lots of Os and Xs for hugs and kisses, filling both inner pages and the outer back side. Mrs. Turtle tells him he's really generous with his hugs and kisses. Mr. Turtle adds that he (Franklin) did a terrific job. Franklin adds that he made cards for everyone else in the class, but (apart from the two Os in Goose's name, the one in Mr. Owl's last name, and the O and X in Fox's, all of which are only used to spell their respective names) he didn't put any Os or Xs on them. Mrs. Turtle adds that she is glad she and his father are so special. The cuckoo clock strikes 8, meaning it is time to go to school, so Mrs. Turtle puts the cookies and cards into Franklin's open backpack (and it is never closed), and Franklin puts on his scarf and mittens, as it is windy. On the walk to the bus stop, Franklin's valentines blow out of his backpack and into puddles behind his back (both literally and figuratively).
