The Goblin is a minor character from Franklin and the Green Knight. He appears in the story The Quest of the Green Knight. The Green Knight and his Squire rescue him from a griffin and receive his aid in return.
Plot[]
The Green Knight and his Squire hear a cry for help and discover Goblin being held in the clutches of a griffin. The Knight draws his sword and commands the griffin to release Goblin. It does so and flies off in fear. Afterwards, the Goblin thanks them both profusely and although the Knight accepts his thanks, he says they must be off, as they need to bring spring to the village. The Goblin then tells them of a cherry tree beyond a rainbow, promising that if they scatter its blossoms, spring will come.
Appearance[]
Despite being described as a goblin, his appearance seems to be more-or-less that a of a buck-toothed rodent with large ears having tufts of fur inside and a with a long tail.
