Moose is Franklin's new friend, who was introduced in "Franklin's New Friend". Moose is 8 years old.

Plot[]
One day a moving van comes to town, bringing Moose and his family who Franklin is very scared of and doesn’t want to make friends with. Moose is, however, Franklin’s new classmate and all of the children seem to be scared of him because he is so big. After recess, Mr. Owl has a word with Franklin and asks him to work with Moose; when he refuses, Mr. Owl asks him to think about what it would be like to be the new person with no friends when he has so many and how scared Moose must be. After this, Franklin taught Moose to get books from the library, how to cut a circle and even introduced him to his friends at lunch. Franklin realized Moose isn’t half as scary as he thought and they become special friends.
In the book version of Finders Keepers for Franklin, Moose tells Franklin that keeping the camera isn't like stealing because he found it, though deep down, Franklin knows better. Nevertheless, he snaps pictures of Moose, along with some of his other friends. Later, when he comments that he'll have to get more film for it, Moose asks him if he's keeping the camera, causing him to remember that it isn't his.
In the book Franklin's Thanksgiving, Franklin invites Moose and his family to the Turtle household for Thanksgiving as a special surprise when his grandparents are unable to attend.
Personality[]
Moose was known as being overly shy, unable to raise his voice or say anything to make others upset. He is sheltered and innocent-minded, and lacked the proper confidence to stand up for him. For a long time, Moose wanted to change himself, ignoring all of his good qualities until the others showed him through support that he could. After Franklin taught Moose to do things such as bringing books from the library and introducing his friends, the two become special friends.
Trivia[]
- Moose is only seen once within the television series, although a group of moose that may or may not be Moose and his family are seen during the opening narration of the movie Franklin and the Green Knight. Moose does not appear in the series Franklin and Friends. He does, however, appear in some of the other Franklin books such as Franklin's Thanksgiving, in which he and his family attend the Turtle family Thanksgiving celebration along with most of the other families in Woodland. He is also part of the class trip to the museum in Franklin's Class Trip. It is uncertain why Moose appears only once in the television series, though some fans have speculated his character may have been cumbersome to animate due to his size.
- Interestingly, Amos Crawley, Moose's voice actor, appeared in another Nelvana TV series with a moose named Moose, Little Bear, but he didn't voice that Moose.
