Mr. Gopher is a gopher who appears in the film Franklin and the Green Knight. He lives in the forest on the edge of Woodland. He helps Franklin and Snail on their quest to try to find spring after they help him.
Plot[]
On a chilly winter morning, Mr. Gopher wakes up, puts on his robes and slippers. He then goes to his window and pokes his head through, sniffing the air, only to find himself stuck. He calls out for help. His call is heard by Franklin and Snail, who are currently a quest to bring spring to Woodland, inspired by the story of the Green Knight and his Squire from The Quest of the Green Knight.
Franklin and Snail arrive at his home. The three all scream upon seeing each other, but then calm down. Franklin asks Mr. Gopher if he was the one who called for help. Embarrassed at his predicament, he at first denies it, asking if it looks like he needs help. Snail says that it looks like he's stuck and he finally gives in, stating that he's "a little stuck." Franklin tells him that he's the Green Knight and that he's there to rescue him. This annoys Snail, who points out that they're there to rescue him.
Franklin starts to try to pull Mr. Gopher out, only for Mr. Gopher to stop him, saying that he might do better to try "the wider end," that the back door is unlocked. Franklin and Snail go around the back and succeed in pushing Mr. Gopher out. He is highly grateful, asking what he can do to thank them. Franklin tells him that they are on a quest to find spring and are looking for an old cherry orchard. Mr. Gopher gives them directions, and they head off, Snail thanking him for the info and him thanking them in return. As they head on their way, Mr. Gopher pops his head back through the window, telling Franklin that he likes his Green Knight costume. He then sighs, realizing he is back in the same predicament as before. His fate after this is unknown. Later, as Franklin and Snail continue their quest, Franklin refers to Mr. Gopher as the "Goblin," a creature from the Green Knight story who helped the Green Knight. Snail points out that he was a gopher, not a goblin, but Franklin says he could have been a goblin in disguise.
Trivia[]
He is the only gopher seen to date in the franchise.
