Franklin Wiki

Mrs. Snail is the mother of Snail and the wife of Mr. Snail. Neither she nor her husband appear in the original Franklin series, though are mentioned in passing. Mrs. Snail first appears in the book Franklin Says I Love You before appearing on television for the first time in Franklin and Friends.

Plot[]

In Franklin Says I Love You, Franklin approaches his friends, asking them how he can show his mother he loves her without buying a fancy present. Snail tells him that he always brings his mother flowers and is shown doing so, but Franklin dismisses the idea because he had given his mother a bouquet of dandelions the day before.

Snail mentions his mom and dad in "Franklin Runs Away," stating that it takes them all day just to get to the mailbox and that it would take them forever to get to the tree fort.

In "Franklin's Advice," Snail does not want to tell his parents about having cracked his shell during a game of soccer, fearing that they will forbid him to play in the future. Franklin urges him several times to admit to what happened, before finally threatening to tell Snail's parents himself if Snail does not. Snail gives in and finally gets treatment for his shell-crack and is relieved to only be temporarily sidelined until he gets better.

In "Franklin and Snail Mail," Mrs. Snail greets Mrs. Periwinkle, the aviator, after she returns from one of her trips around the world. She invites her into the Snail family home for a catch-up, and for tea and cake. Later, after Snail, Franklin and Bear are inspired by the stamps that Mrs. Periwinkle brought as a gift for Snail, Mrs. Snail and Mrs. Periwinkle join Snail in enjoying the delights of the pretend landscapes that Franklin and Bear created.

In "Franklin and the Shadow Show," she and Mr. Snail take Snail to see Dr. Bear when he has a stomachache. Dr. Bear asks if Snail recently ate anything unusual, but he didn't. With the help of Franklin and Bear, they realize that Snail's nervousness is down to Snail worrying about not having a puppet for the shadow show.
