Squirrel is a character who appears twice in "Franklin's School Play" and "Big Brother Franklin" in the original series. Squirrel is a bit younger than Franklin and his friends, making him 5-and-a-half years old.
Plot[]
In "Big Brother Franklin", Squirrel shows up while Franklin, Raccoon and Fox are playing and wants to know if they'll play with him. He is in Woodland visiting his Granny. Franklin becomes a sort of surrogate big-brother to him. He begins calling Franklin by the nickname "Big Brother," resulting in Franklin enduring some minor teasing from Fox and Raccoon. Franklin finds him to be quick for his size and a quick learner. Franklin, however, begins to become worried when it seems as though Squirrel doesn't actually need his help doing anything. One of the things Squirrel cannot do well is swim, resulting in Franklin coming to a heroic rescue when he is trapped atop a frisbee in a pond. Franklin offers to give him swimming lessons the next time he visits. He promises to ask his Granny to visit again soon.
Personality[]
Squirrel is optimistic, fun-loving, excitable, energetic, and cheerful. He is very friendly and will do what he can to help. While these traits make him appear nosy, however, he can do things better than others and tends to be simple-minded.
Catchphrases[]
- "Okay!"
- "I'll try!"
- "Thanks, big brother."
Trivia[]
- His actor, Cole Caplan, also assumed the role of Franklin beginning with the special Back to School with Franklin and the sixth season of the original series.
- Squirrel's real best friend is Possum.
- Since he is a bit younger than Franklin and his friends, if one counts Snail (who is 5) and Skunk (who is 6), he would be the second youngest of all the Woodland kids.
